"It was back in 1990,1991 , before 9-11, just at the time of the 1st invasion of Iraq. I had been thinking that our country was getting
more inclusive and more democratic and all seemed good. There was no kind of division in our country like there is now. I was in my early twenties and anything seemed possible. Global warming was just a scientific warning back then and politics was mainly just boring and in the background. All I cared about was music and girls seemed like some kind of magical creature to me. I thought that the social changes of the sixties were going to form our new way forward as a country and all that needed to happen was for various people to wake up and see the light. But I was also suffering from depression and often absent from the present tense, and music was like the thing that got me through all of that. And 'There Goes My Girl' was just a song that came through one of the more positive moments back then. It kind of wrote itself, I just had to figure out how to play it." - Bayon Forte
